Folks of all ages enjoyed the Grand Opening celebration for the new Third Street development complex last Thursday. Mayor Thom Crowder, acting as master of ceremonies, spoke with great pride and since emotion about the "center of opportunity," his love for the residents, and dedication to the city that was clearly evident and inspiring. The Mayor then recognized many of those present who were instrumental in making the Resource Center a realty. Among those saluted were John Rogers, Reagan M. Wilson, Starret Kreissman, Bev Finley, June Rogers, Cathee Vaughn, and newly elected councilman, Bart Conner.

Keynote speaker, Supervisor Thomas Mayfield congratulated the entire community of Hughson for their amazing achievement. City Manager, David Whiteside spoke with such feeling and eloquence that not only was it infectious, but it created an atmosphere of camaraderie that carried throughout the remainder of the evening.
