Health workers in Stanislaus County will use $56,783 from the state to guard
against bioterrorist attacks. The Health Services Agency will spend the
money on microscopes and other laboratory equipment, as well as training
and computer improvements. The state Department of Health Servcies increased
such funding from $1 million to $6million statewide in response to the September
11 terrorist attacks and the ensuing anthrazx scare. Merced County received
$50,000 for the same purpose. The money must be spent by June 30.
