Flu shots will be available at 26 locations throughout Stanislaus County beginning Oct. 24.

Vaccinations are recommended for all people ages 60 and older and those at any age with diabetes, asthma, heart disease, kidney disease or weakened immune systems. Infants between 6 and 24 months, and adults over age 50 also have a greater chance of problems if they get the flu.

Those who are at less risk should wait until November to get flu shots. That way, the county Health Services Agency can ensure that high-risk patients are served first.

Flu shots are needed every year because the virus changes its profile each year, officials said.

A donation of $10 is suggested. More information is available from the Health Services Agency by telephone, 558-8872, and online, hsahealth.org
