The Stanislaus County Health Services Agency, area hospitals and medical
groups reported Thursday that they had not been contacted by anyone trying
to sell flu vaccine at inflated prices.
State Attorney General Bill Lockyer warned Wednesday that his office
would go after anyone inflating vaccine prices as a way to exploit the
national shortage. Lockyer added, however, that he had not received any
complaints of price gouging.
David Jones, spokesman for the county Health Services Agency, said nobody
had contacted the county's pharmacy offering vaccine at inflated prices.
Officials at Doctors Medical Center, Memorial Medical Center and Hy-Lond
Convalescent Hospital, all in Modesto, and Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock
all said they had not been contacted, either. Nor had Sutter Gould Medical
Foundation, McHenry Medical Group, Family Health Care Medical Group or
Family Medical Group, all of Modesto.
