Clayton McDaniel and Richard Stevens both talk about the unfortunate
patients they have treated during their medical training in Stanislaus
County.
McDaniel, a resident in the county's family practice program, recalled
a woman with bipolar disorder who acted violently when she wandered into
the public health clinic on Scenic Drive.
He said he worked with county mental health staff to enroll her in the
health system, put her on medication and get her off the streets.
"She improved so she hasn't had a manic episode for eight to 10
months," he said. "It was one case you could call a success."
