Doctors may never list urban sprawl as a cause on a patient's death certificate,
but it isn't good for people's health, the state's public health officer
said Wednesday.
In one of his last speeches as California's top health official, Dr. Richard
Jackson said conventional urban planning is a culprit in health problems
such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, depression and the constant stress
commuters experience.
