The Modesto City Schools Board of Education on Monday night voted to
award a certificate of completion to high school seniors who have not
passed the exit exam.
The board also voted to try fourth-grade single-gender classes on one
campus.
Both were unanimous.
The issue that absorbed the majority of the meeting was whether trustees
should agree to a contract with the Stanislaus County Health Services
Agency to teach a portion of high school sex education curriculum.
For two hours, students, parents, teachers and medical professionals
on both sides of the debate shared their thoughts with the board.
