Because of recent county Health Services Agency cuts and an internal
dispute at the Del Puerto Health Care District, some patients in western
Stanislaus County had to find new doctors or simply have gone without
care.
Two recent developments are expected to free up access to medical services
on the West Side.
Golden Valley Health Centers is using a $185,000 grant to expand hours
at its safety-net clinics in Newman and Patterson. The grant from the
state's Healthy Families Program, which provides insurance for the working
poor, is intended to broaden access to care for beneficiaries and underserved
children in Stanislaus County.
