If you want to teach children about nutrition and exercise, it helps
to make it fun.
Consequently, the 45 children at the Project Healthy Kids Camp in Modesto
are jumping rope, playing with Hula Hoops, rock climbing and meeting minor
league baseball players — when not taking nutrition classes.
The students didn't have to travel far to the camp at Robertson Road
Elementary School in the southwest part of the city. The students attend
school either at Robertson Road or nearby Kirschen Elementary.
The goal of the weeklong camp, which started Monday, is to battle the
obesity epidemic through education.
