I am encouraged by "A doctor in the house" (Sept. 22, Page B-1) and I'm happy to add that our community also enjoys the benefit of home visits provided through the Stanislaus County Family Medicine Residency Program. The residency program, which trains medical school graduates in the practice of family medicine, was awarded funding through the Health Services Administration Foundation by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation to serve our community with in-home visits. Six in-home visits are provided weekly through grant funding rather than tax dollars.
Because of the foresight of Dr. Peter Broderick, this community has services many communities would like.
