Community development block grants for Stanislaus County
and several cities were approved Tuesday, but not before
the Board of Supervisors got an earful from south Modesto
representatives.
The county gets about $2.5 million a year from the federal
government for projects to benefit lowand moderate-income
people, eliminate blight and meet community needs.
The money is divided among the county and the cities of
Ceres, Oakdale, Patterson, Waterford and Newman. The other
cities in the county receive their own grants.
