BENCH DEDICATION: Health Services Agency Volunteer Services will dedicate two portable benches in honor of longtime volunteers Anita Chimerofsky and Helen Gaskin at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at 830 Scenic Drive. Cake and refreshments will be served after the program. The service honors the years of volunteer work the women provided to the agency. For more information, call Kathy Phillips at 558-7254.

TIRE COLLECTION PROGRAM: Modesto residents can recycle old tires for free. Residents must contact their garbage company and request that a tire coupon be mailed to them. These free events are scheduled each month through June. All tires will be accepted, but businesses cannot participate. Call Bertolotti Disposal Service at 537-8000 or Gilton Solid Waste at 527-3781. For more information, call the the city's Solid Waste Division at 577-5494.

IT'S A GAMBLE: The American Legion Auxiliary's 12th District is sponsoring a bus trip to Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino in Coarsegold on Oct. 13. Pickup locations will be at various spots in Modesto, Turlock and Merced. The bus will leave Modesto at 1:15 p.m. and return by 10:30 p.m. Cost is $20, which includes a $10 card play and $5 food credit. No refunds allowed. There will be prize giveaways on the bus. Proceeds will go to support the auxiliary's youth programs. For further information, call Suzie "Q" at 668-9710.
