| Volunteerism
remains a strong and vital presence at the Stanislaus County Health Services
Agency (HSA) following the closure of Stanislaus Medical Center in November,
1997. It is anticipated that there will be over 21,000 volunteer hours served
in 1998.
Volunteers support various HSA services including three specialty and
eight community clinics; the gift shop; public health and the Health Services
Agency Foundation which is the fundraising arm of the agency.
The June business meeting of HSA Volunteer Services saw
a new slate of officers installed to lead the organization into its next
fiscal year starting July 1, 1998. The new officers serving a one-year
term include:
Helen Denny, President
Phillis Berry, President Elect
Loren Horton, Recording Secretary
Eldora Andrews, Treasurer
Louise Tourtlotte, Corresponding Secretary
Mary Arrington was honored as the outgoing president, serving
from
July 1997 –June 1998.
The installation luncheon also featured outstanding entertainment from
professional singers Roy Stevens and Annalisa Winberg who performed a
variety of selections from famous musicals and light opera productions.
The couple was recently featured in the June 21 edition of the Modesto
Bee. Roy is the son of HSA volunteer Dottie Stevens.
