Hughson Community Center To Help Thousands

Residents of the Hughson area will soon benefit from a new 20,000 square foot community center. The new center consists of two buildings located in downtown Hughson.

The Hughson Community Resource Center will have its grand opening open house on Thursday, November 5, 1998 between 4 – 6 p.m. at its 2100 3rd Street location in downtown Hughson.

The grand opening event will kick off at 4:15 p.m. with keynote speaker Tom Mayfield, Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors, District 2. The event will feature entertainment and behind-the-scenes tours of the services and agencies in the new resource center.

The resource center has been a multi-year, public/private community project involving multiple agencies including the United Samaritans Foundation (USF). The USF has constructed two separate buildings totaling 20,000 square feet of space that will be leased and used for community medical services, library services, a community pharmacy, the Daily Bread Café, community food bank, mental health services and the Women's, Infants and Children's (WIC) program. The facility will also serve as the main food preparation site for the Daily Bread ministry of the USF which delivers free lunches to a number of locations in Stanislaus County.

The project is a partnership between the United Samaritans Foundation, City of Hughson, Hughson Pharmacy, Stanislaus County Health Services Agency, Stanislaus County Library, and Stanislaus County Department of Social Services.
