| It's
Halloween and the Stanislaus County Health Services Agency Tobacco Education
Program is joining with Festival 10 Cinemas to do their part in making this
a memorable celebration with a "Nico-Teen Horror Show."
This event will occur on Saturday, October 30, 1999 at the Festival 10
Cinemas at 3969 McHenry Avenue in Modesto from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00
p.m. Two of the movie screens will be showing a pre-movie slide show of
what using tobacco can do to your body. The "black lung" and
"hairy tongue" will be showcased along with the American Cancer
Society's Tar Lady.
In addition, two brand new tobacco ad quilts will be on display that
were created from tobacco tee-shirts collected during last year's Great
American Smokeout. One of the quilts also includes large photos of the
reality of what tobacco use does to your body.
Those who submit a statement about the most terrifying, horrifying, and
disgusting thing about using tobacco products, will be able to enter a
drawing to win popular anti-tobacco tee shirts and free tickets to return
to the Festival 10 Cinemas. A tobacco prevention information table with
the ghoulish truth about tobacco products will be in the lobby along with
displays and an art gallery of popular anti-tobacco posters that can be
taken home after the show.
Join Stanislaus County Health Services Agency and Festival 10 Cinemas
for a treat of truth and find out more about who has been tricking you
into thinking using tobacco is safe and cool. For a preview of some of
the ghoulish truth to be learned, read what can be found in the dangerous
witches brew called cigarettes: rat poison, DDT, ammonia, arsenic, vinyl
chloride, carbon monoxide, nail polish remover, and lighter fluid.
