COUNTY – The Stanislaus County Cardiovascular Disease Prevention
Coalition recently appointed a new slate of officers for the year 2000.
The new chairperson of the coalition is Phoebe Leung, director of health
education services for the Stanislaus County Health Services Agency. Leung
will lead the one-year old program through a planning and implementation
process. As part of her role, Leung will also represent the local coalition
on the California Cardiovascular Disease Coalition. The chair-elect of
the local coalition is Lona Stonebreaker, Executive Director of the Stanislaus
County chapter of the American Heart Association.
The coalition consists of representatives from the community-at-large
and medical community throughout Stanislaus County who have an interest
in the prevention of cardiovascular disease.
The coalition was formed to help reduce cardiovascular disease risk factors
in Stanislaus County. The group is developing the HEART program that focuses
on health, education, awareness, resources and training in regard to cardiovascular
issues.
