| Stanislaus
County - The Stanislaus County Health Services Agency is pleased
to support the second year of the tobacco-free Stanislaus County Sheriff's
Posse Rodeo. The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Posse Rodeo has adopted a policy
that states that the rodeo will not accept tobacco company sponsorship monies
or promote tobacco companies at this annual event. They are one of the few
rodeos that have implemented a policy that counters pro-tobacco influences
in communities statewide.
Health Services Agency staff will be at the event to promote awareness
of the sponsorship policy, to promote the outdoor tobacco free areas in
the seated areas of the grandstand and the arena at the Stanislaus County
Fairgrounds, and to provide tobacco information/referrals and small incentives
during the event. The rodeo takes place on Friday, June 8, from 7:30-10:30
and Saturday, June 9, from 7:30-10:30.
The 19th Annual Stanislaus County Sheriff's Posse Rodeo raises money
for the Sheriff's equestrian unit, and donates money back to community
programs for youth at-risk. Last year, nearly 4500 people attended the
rodeo each evening.
