Health Services Agency Sponsors Tobacco-Free Night At The Ballpark

The Stanislaus County Health Services Agency Tobacco Education Program is sponsoring a tobacco education and awareness night with the Modesto A's on Saturday, June 16 in Modesto at John Thurman Field. The promotion is an attempt to raise awareness of adults and children to the dangers of tobacco products and second hand smoke.

The evening will feature two local youth, Sean Walker (age 9) and Matthew Walker (age 6) throwing out the first pitch of the game at 7:05 p.m. Tobacco Education staff will be at the event passing out health information and giveaway items. The Tobacco Free O2 Van - a tricked out van/trailer with an awesome sound system - will also be at the event along with a Tobacco Free Race Car.

The Stanislaus County Youth Advocates Promoting Better Health will be participating in an interactive game with the crowd during a break between innings. These junior high and high school students are also featured in a tobacco education billboard that has been up at the Field and will remain throughout the season. Tobacco Free messages will also be played by the game announcer throughout the game.
