County – Representatives from the Stanislaus County West Nile
Virus Task Force will be holding a news conference at 1 p.m. on Friday,
July 23, 2004 to announce that a mosquito pool in Stanislaus County has
tested positive for West Nile virus. The mosquito pool is part of an ongoing
testing site for mosquitoes in Stanislaus County and is the first reported
mosquito pool to test positive in northern California.
The news conference will be held at the Turlock Mosquito Abatement Office
at 4412 N. Washington Rd. in Turlock.
Managers from Turlock Mosquito Abatement District, Eastside Mosquito
Abatement District and the Stanislaus County Public Health Officer will
release information on the status of West Nile virus activities during
this time. Subject matter experts will be available for individual interviews
at the news conference.
Individual interviews with subject matter experts will NOT be available
after completion of the news conference on Friday due to heavy scheduling
conflicts and program activity.
