Stanislaus County – The Women’s Infants and Children’s (WIC) program is holding a special celebration with WIC participants in celebration of World Breastfeeding Month. Media are invited to attend.

The event will be held Monday, August 16 from 1:15 – 2:15 p.m. at the WIC program office in Modesto located at 401 Paradise Rd. in the West Modesto Community Center. The celebration will include cake and ice cream, the costume character IZZY the Bear and prize giveaways. More than 100 people attended the celebration in 2003.

“Breastfeeding is one the most important ways a mother can protect her infants health,” stated Sharon Winterberg, a registered dietitian with the WIC Program.

The celebration was founded by the World Health Organization.
