County – The nurses of the Stanislaus County Health Services
Agency immunization program would like to remind the public it is time for
children to receive their back to school vaccinations. Avoid the rush by
getting your child’s vaccinations now. The State of California requires
children to be vaccinated for a variety of diseases before they can attend
classes. Requirements vary by age range.
Photo opportunities with nurses from the immunization program vaccinating
children will be available on Tuesday, August 17 from 10 a.m. until noon
at the public health department located at 820 Scenic Drive Modesto. Nurses
will also be available for interviews on vaccination issues. If members
of the media are interested in this photo opportunity, please contact
the Health Services Agency media relations department at (209)558-7116
in advance so we can coordinate with your needs.
Children can be held out of school by administrators if they are not
current on their vaccinations. “Children need their immunizations
not only to stay in school, but they need them to maintain good health,”
stated Nancy Bancroft, immunization coordinator for the Health Services
Agency.
The public can call the immunization program at 558-4818 for information
on immunizations. Appointments are available on a walk-in basis. There
is a fee of $10 per shot.
