Stanislaus County – The Stanislaus County Health Services Agency
has announced it will sponsor two pediatric flu clinics in Modesto. The
clinics are only for high-risk and low-income pediatric patients meeting
state criteria.

The low-income clinics will be available for high-risk VFC eligible children,
6 months to 18 years of age. VFC eligible children include: Child Health
Disability Prevention (CHDP) Program or Medi-Cal eligible, children without
private health insurance or those who are American Indian or Alaskan Native.
A $15.00 donation fee will be requested.
High-risk criteria include: children aged 6 months through 23 months;
children and adolescents aged 6 months through 18 years with chronic disorders
of the pulmonary or cardiovascular systems, including asthma; children
and adolescents aged 6 months through 18 years who have required regular
medical follow-up or hospitalization during the preceding year because
of chronic metabolic diseases (including diabetes), renal dysfunction,
hemoglobinopathies, or immunosuppression; children and adolescents aged
6 months through 18 years who are receiving long-term aspirin therapy;
children and adolescents aged 2 through 18 years who are household contacts
of persons in high-risk groups (persons aged 65 years or older, transplant
recipients, children less than 2 years, persons with AIDS); children and
adolescents aged 6 months through 18 years who are residents of nursing
homes and other chronic-care facilities that house persons at any age
who have chronic medical conditions; adolescent females aged under 19
years who will be in the second or third trimester of pregnancy during
influenza season.
Parents with health insurance for their children are asked to contact
their healthcare provider for a flu shot. The public can get a recorded
message on flu in English and Spanish by calling Stanislaus County Health
Services Agency’s flu hotline at (209) 558-8872. High-risk children
who do not qualify for VFC vaccine may contact Public Health for an appointment
at (209) 558-8866.
